Duvet

I know only about 2 people read this blog, but I have a question for those out there. How do you feel about duvets?

When I first knew what colors I wanted to use in my bedroom, I saw an orange comforter in a magazine that I really thought would look nice, but I couldn't find it anywhere. While looking at Ikea, I found a duvet cover that was a great color. I use a down comforter in the winter and thought this would be great to use with it.

However, I'm running into some issues. First, whatever material it's made out of attracts dust bunnies and hair like there's no tomorrow. And with that beautiful long haired cat you see sitting in the window in the picture above, there's no solving that problem. Washing/drying/etc. doesn't do anything. Second, I do not understand how the comforter is supposed to stay in the duvet. Is there a way to get around it bunching up in places? Please, someone tell me something I can use!

For now, I'm using the plain white down comforter without the duvet but keeping the nice pillow cases. They have really pretty detail:

Let me know  your thoughts on duvet covers and if there's any way to get around the comforter bunching up inside.

We have a duvet and I don't love it. I like the pattern and everything but it is a pain. Ours has ties on the inside corners that you can tie the comforter to. This helps with the slipping around but doesn't completely fix the problem. I find I have to readjust it every couple of days by shaking it out and making sure to hold on to the top part of the blanket. Ours is also made of cotton so it probably doesn't bunch up and move around as much as yours. Yours looks like its almost like silk or taffeta. Hope this helps!

I have a duvet as well. Mine is also cotton and bunches at times. When I make my bed in the mnorning, I tend to shake the comforter from the two bottom corners. I also have ties at the opening.
The thing I love about duvet covers are the ease of cleaning them and when I change my mind about the direction of my room, I can just switch the cover as opposed to purchasing a new comforter. I would definitely try a different fabric. I think Ikea has white ones for around $10 (that's where I get mine from). Good luck!

Thanks girls! I do think mine is made of cotton, but since I have the cat, the fuzz issue is out of control. I think I'm going to stick with the plain white down comforter in the winter and the original gray comforter I have for the Spring/Summer/Fall. It's not a total waste because I'll use the pillow cases. It's so annoying that the comforters bunch up inside! It's such a good idea, in theory.

I did love the original picture you posted of your room! I think there were orchids on your comforter and I remember thinking "I need that!" Good choice!
